Wedding ceremonies and receptions have been my primary focus for 40+ years now. There are other special occasions though where my DJ/MC services play an important role...
Anniversary/Birthday Parties -- Next to weddings, these are perhaps my favorite events! Not only do anniversaries/birthday events feature some of the same activities as weddings (introductions, toasts, cake cutting, lots of dancing, etc.), they also allow time for me to go among family and guests with my wireless mic (usually just after the meal) for them to share stories and reminiscences of and with our Guest(s) of Honor. Clients tell me these "walks down memory lane" are among their most cherished parts of the celebration!
Corporate Events -- I'm blessed to have wonderful relationships with corporate clients, a number who I see twice a year -- for Employee Picnics/Outings during the warm weather months and then again for Holiday Parties/Recognition Events during the winter months. Like weddings and anniversaries/birthdays, these events require an eclectic mix of music for the wide range of ages and musical tastes on-hand as well as a Master of Ceremonies to keep guests informed of everything going-on (i.e. making announcements about activities at the Summer Picnic and assisting management with raffles and prize distribution at the annual Employee Holiday Party). Clients appreciate all that a professional DJ/MC contributes to making a simply "OK" company event into one that employees and their family talk about long after it's over! Current and past clients include American Public University, Northern Virginia Electric Co-Op, Frederick (MD) Memorial Hospital Radiology, Dan Ryan Builders, Winchester Anesthesiologists, Concert Technologies, and Roach Energy just to name a few.
Non-Profit Events & Fundraisers -- It's always fun playing tunes in celebration of a great cause and helping organizations make our community a better place to live. Through the years, I've had the satisfaction of playing for a variety of great causes and organizations including the Shepherdstown Rotary's "Charity Ball", March of Dimes "Walk America", Main Street Martinsburg's "Fridays @ Five" Summer Concert Series, Shepherd University's "Relay For Life", and the Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center, just to name a few. A nice side-benefit of these events is that they're often open to the public, affording prospective clients an opportunity to see me in-action which often isn't possible with a private event such as a wedding or corporate party.
Etc. -- Over the years, I've played for a ton of other events as well... high school and college graduation parties, divorce parties (and yes, before you ask, I've done both a wedding AND divorce party for the same client!), informal backyard BBQ's, deck/pool parties and even Memorial Services and Celebrations of Life. Give a call or shoot me an e-mail, let me know what you have in-mind, and I'll do my best on the timing and budget to make it a "win-win" for both of us!
